“As far as I know nobody mistreated witness A. Witness D’s husband protected her. She used to work at his cafe,” said defense witness Milorad Rajic.

Rajic said he used to see A during the war, as he frequented the cafe she worked at. He said witness D socialized with her.

The Bosnian state prosecution has charged Slavko Savic, a former member of the Light Infantry Brigade with the Bosnian Serb Army, with the rape of a woman in Semizovac, in the municipality of Vogosca, in May and June 1993. She testified at this trial under the pseudonym A.

Rajic said he knew Savic from before the war, and said that his “behaviour was not asocial.”

When asked whether the defendant used to drive a white VW Golf, Rajic said he did, although he didn’t see him driving that vehicle during the war.

The trial will continue on May 4.
